1945
Karl Liebrandt establishes the Company in Naila/Oberklingensporn.

1946
Foundation of the ORFA knitting/sewing plants by Karl Liebrandt. The knitting plant helped in developing and improving future warp knitting machines.

1948
The first warp knitting machine goes into production. The demand for these machines is at
that greater than LIBA's production capability.

1949
Production of the first direct warping machines and the first creel.

1952
LIBA develops the high-speed warp knitting machine with a speed of 
800 RPM. The maximum speed previously was approximately 400 RPM.

1961
Production of the first Raschel machine.

1962
In co-operation with DuPont, the first warper for elastomeric yarn "Lycra"
is developed.

1963
LIBA exhibits at the ITMA in Hannover for the first time.

1966
The patented LIBA compound needle system (Pat.No. DE PS 1760140)
is developed.

1972
Production of the first warp knitting machine with horizontal 
magazine weft insertion.

1974
The U.S. subsidiary - American LIBA Incorporated is established. 
First warp knitting machine with pile device is built 
(Pat.Nr. DE PS 24 35 312).

1978
LIBA's first double needle bar machine enters the market.

1983
At the ITMA in Milan, LIBA presents the first warp knitting machine with short-stroke compound needle system with an operating speed of 2500 RPM.

1984
Founding of the subsidiary in Brazil - LIBA DO BRASIL.

1987
At the ITMA in Paris, LIBA introduces the first completely computer-controlled warp knitting machine:
COPCENTRA ELS - EBC-EAC.
ELS - electronic control of the guide bars
EBC - electronic control of the beam drive
EAC - electronic control of the fabric take-up.
In this year the first warp knitting machine with multiaxial werft insertion systems is also built. Subsidiary, LIBA France, is established.

1988
Subsidiary in the Far East - LIBA Far East/Hongkong.

1991
At the ITMA/Hannover LIBA presents the first computer-controlled large-scale warping machine, type 40, and the first Electronic sectional Jacquard mechanism (ESJ).


1996
LIBA presents a computer-controlled Jacquard Raschel machine.

1998
LIBA joins www.

1999
At the ITMA in Paris, LIBA presents the first TWIN warp knitting machine with
2 individual knitting systems with an operating speed of 2 x 2500 RPM.
Worldwide first tricot machine with Micro Gauge E 44.
Fastest warp knitting machine Copcentra 2 K E at 3300 RPM.

2000
Completely computerized Copcentra MAX 3 for multiaxial composite materials.
New Copcentra HS-ST-CH with glass fibre chopper.
Computerized Weftloc 3 E with higher productivity.


Today
LIBA is one of the leading manufactures of textile machines. We have not only gone with but also contributed to technological change.
